Surf Safe

Surf Safe

GIF

Animated GIF for the Surf Safe project. This is a versatile GIF that animates the logo and can be used for social media and on the website that is presented with this project.

I created one long motion graphic typographic and illustrative motion graphic for this project. The motion graphic is an informative video about how fake news has affected society. The motion graphic also provides the name Surf Safe and that it can help prevent the unconsciousness slide of misinformation. The color pallet of the motion graphic is the same as the logo and website in gray, black, and white. I created an eight-second GIF that can act as a social media post. I used Adobe After Effects software for this motion graphic.

Logo Variations and Decisions

I wanted the logo to be the face of the website and recognizable outside of the actual website. The circle in the middle of the logo is the universal symbol for the news, except it usually has a line through the middle, but it does not look unified with a line in the middle. I wrapped the letter around the circle with the letter u in surf and safe. The colors that are intended to be used for the logo are white, grey, red, and black. The logo uses the font Cascadia Code in bold. I created the tagline “Its time to fact check the news” which represents what the brand would stand for and is a lighthearted way given the subject of the brand.

The website has four pages for users to scroll through. The pages are the fact checker, ways to identify fake news, how fake news affects society, and the different variations of fake news and deep fakes.

Surf Safe Website

I wanted the Surf Safe website to be the main objective for this project. I decided on a black and white color pallet to look more professional and seem like the best site for reliable information and service. I created four web pages in total: Surf Safe landing page, how to identify fake news, how fake news affects society, and the different types of fake news and deep fakes. These pages are important basic information for the reader about fake news. The landing page has instructions on how to use the Surf Safe website and why it is useful. All the consumer has to do is plug in the URL of the article or information into the website, and there are panels below that will tell you the information related to that piece of information, such as the publisher's background if the sources of information are reliable and factual, comments on the article and from reviewers, and if there is detection of biased speech.
